Etosha National Park - Black Rhino

Our first afternoon drive in the park was successful when we found 2 black rhino near the newbronii waterhole. The adult cow and sub-adult bull were grazing in the bushes about 150m from the waterhole. We spent about half an hour with them before moving on in search of more game.

Etosha National Park - Black Rhino

This Morning we made our way east across the park from Okaukuejo towards Mushara Bush Camp. We spotted a large spotted hyena next to the road chewing very loudly on some old bones. After lunch we found another Black Rhino grazing about 500m from the road, standing in-between a few Mopane trees.

Etosha National Park - Elephant & Lion

The eastern side of the National park was full of excitement during both our morning and afternoon drives. During the morning drive we were extremely lucky to spot a mating pair of elephants and a small herd of 12 elephants next to the road. We watched them for about 30 min as they grazed along the road.

During the afternoon drive we spotted two adult male lions resting under an acacia tree.

Bwabwata National Park- Mahango Core Area

This morning we took a scenic game drive into the Mahango National Park, where we saw an amazing number of water birds and other wetland animals. The highlight of the drive was a quick sighting of 2 rare roan antelope, which ran across the road in front of the vehicle.

Chobe National Park - Elephant

As we entered the Chobe National Park we were amazed at the numbers of wildlife. En route to Kasane we spotted a herd of 16 elephants moving across the road heading north towards the river and a few ground hornbills searching for food. The best sighting was a very quick glimpse of a leopard which ran out the long grass in front of the car and disappeared just as quickly once across the road. Our afternoon drive along the Chobe River was also very successful where we saw around 400 elephant grazing, drinking and bathing next to the river, with scattered hippos and buffalo inbetween. It was amazing to see such large numbers of wildlife if such a small area.

Chobe National Park- Wild Dog & Lion

Our last drive in Chobe National Park was a great way to end a fantastic Namibian safari were we spotted 2 very rare wild dogs running in the road about 10 meters from the vehicle. We were also fortunate enough to find 2 lions lying in the open floodplain. While we were watching they got up and walked right past the car into the thick bushes. It was great to witness these amazing animals so close to the vehicle. On the road back to the camp we counted over 350 buffalo grazing next to the river. Such a great day on Safari.
