The Ultimate Tribe is proud to announce that we have been honored with the We are Africa “Experience Award” for our Giraffe Conservation Safari. This prestigious accolade was presented at the WAA trade show in Cape Town on the 2nd of May 2017, and Tristan Cowley received the award on our behalf. The list of short-listed nominees was of the highest caliber and, after being runner-up for three consecutive years, we were ecstatic to receive this recognition. read more

26 Oct 2015 / Ultimate Safaris honoured with 5 flowers at Eco Awards

Ultimate Safaris has been awarded 5 flowers (a score of 94%) by the Eco Awards Namibia. This makes us the only Namibian safari operator with 5 flowers (the maximum number of flowers you can be awarded) and as a result Namibia's most environmentally conscious safari operator. The assessment is based on the Global Sustainable Tourism Council, and the four pillars which form the basis for assessment are as follows: A. Demonstrate effective sustainable management. B. Maximize social and economic benefit to the local community and minimize negative impacts. C. Maximize benefit to cultural heritage and minimize negative impacts. D. Maximize benefit to the environment and minimize negative impacts. Eco Awards Namibia is also a founding member of the African Alliance for Sustainable Tourism, and is working towards a 'Mutually Recognized Standard' for members of the Alliance, to ensure an equally high standard across the continent, in both criteria and procedure of its assessments. We are delighted to be at the forefront of this and hopefully many other operators follow suit. We feel both very proud and honoured by this accolade. Orlando Haraseb, senior tour guide at Ultimate Safaris, has just won Silver at the Wanderlust Travel World Guide Awards in an event held at the Royal Geographic Society last week in London, UK. Out of thousands of nominees voted in by guests worldwide, these were short listed to just 8, and then whittled down to three finalists, Ultimate Safaris is very honored to announce that Orlando Haraseb is officially recognized as one of the best guides in the world. The judges included Bill Bryson (legendary travel writer), Mark Carwardine (author, photographer & TV wildlife expert), Peter Antoniou (Swarovski Optik, preferred supplier of quality binoculars to Ultimate Safaris guides), Paul Goodyer (Co-founder, Nomad Travel Stores), Derek Moore (legendary travel industry supremo) and Lyn Hughes (Editor-in-Chief, Wanderlust) and competition was very close and tight. We are tremendously proud (and not at all surprised) that this former captain of the national football team, avid birder, and all round nice guy has been recognized by industry professionals and guests as one of the best guides in the worlds. An worthy accolade to the caliber of Namibian guides, their passion, knowledge, professionalism and experience. The last few days Namibia has been abuzz with excitement and Orlando\'s been kept busy with interviews, press conferences and many phone calls. Orlando continues to be an inspirational mentor, role model and exceptional Namibian citizen. read more
